MAKE is a water-based Epoxy enamel ideal as a finishing coating for concrete floors and tiles INDOOR. Suitable for floors in warehouses, garages, food and engineering industries, laboratories, bathrooms. The product is also suitable for vertical application on ceramic materials and tiles. It is the ideal product where high surface hardness and a structured effect are required. This product can also be applied directly to a cement substrate as long as the pre-existing conditions of the floor are checked. By virtue of the HACCP certification it is the ideal product for painting environments and floors in which food is deposited, stored, processed, administered to the consumer, i.e. canteens, food industries, industrial kitchens, food warehouses and laboratories, bars, restaurants and dairies.

INFORMATION

MAKE is a water-based epoxy enamel with a satin finish, specifically designed as an anti-dust coating for industrial concrete floors and tiles without prior application of another primer. The treated surface is resistant to dust and impervious to oils and greases. It is also resistant to gasoline, acids and diluted bases. The product is characterized by excellent flow, smooth and rich appearance and high adhesion to cementitious substrates due to the positive results of the pull-off tests necessary to determine the adhesion and resistance of the film system. The product is certified with A+ classification according to the minimum environmental criteria (CAM) and the indoor air quality (IAQ) parameters with reference to VOC emissions within 28 days of application. The product also bears the EC marking for construction products with reference to the DoP performance parameters necessary for products used in the construction sector. Finally, the product has been tested in accordance with Ministerial Decision 236/89 on the BCRA method which measures the coefficient of dynamic friction in order to verify the slip resistance on the cement substrate. The product is HACCP certified in accordance with the UNI 11021 standard concerning products and systems for painting environments with the presence, handling, distribution and storage of food.

Preparation

  • New floor: to carry out the work according to the latest technology, it is necessary to check the absorption of the substrate by pouring a small amount of water on it, in order to verify the sufficient level of porosity of the surface to be treated. If the water is absorbed quickly, the substrate is in excellent conditions for coating. Otherwise, it is not porous enough and must be chemically treated as follows: wash the floor with a mixture of 1 part muriatic acid to 9 parts water and, after the acid has reacted, rinse thoroughly with water. When the floor is completely dry, proceed with the coating.
  • Already coated floors: mechanically remove any old paint and any possible residue, non-compliant elements, oil stains, wheel marks and any fragile material.
  • Tiled Floors: clean the surface thoroughly with Acetone to remove any grease, soap residue, salts or other elements that may affect the proper adhesion of the product. Note: it is always recommended to initially sand the surface with No. 100 sandpaper and then clean with acetone.
  • Metal surfaces: the surface must be clean, dry, degreased and free of rust and/or salts. Before applying MAKE – Water-based Epoxy Enamel, apply a coat of the appropriate water-based epoxy primer and 24 hours later apply the final coat.

Application

  • It is recommended to apply with a brush or short-pile roller (for ripoline, Mictofiber).
  • To ensure the homogeneity of the product with the hardener, follow the instructions below: pour the hardener (Component B) into the colored base (Component A). Mix thoroughly with an electric stirrer at a speed of 300-400 rpm. Avoid partial mixing of the product. Do not use water to wash the hardener container. After stirring, let the product rest for 5-10 minutes, dilute with water and proceed with the application.
  • Apply the first coat diluted with 20% with water. After approximately 12-24 hours and no later than 3-4 days, apply the 2nd coat of product diluted with 10% with tap water. If the above conditions are not respected, problems of unevenness of the finish may arise, with differences in brightness and color.
  • The degree of gloss may be affected by the selected color and the thickness applied.
  • The color match is evaluated after the product has been applied and dried.
  • Shelf life Component B: the shelf life of the hardener used with Component A is 12 months.
  • Do not apply the product with floor temperatures below +10°C. Check for the presence of moisture in the substrate: it must not exceed 4%. Before applying any coating, it is recommended to carry out the “plastic sheet” test, in accordance with Standard ASTM D 4263-83, to check for any problems caused by excessive moisture rise and/or counter-pressure water.
  • Trafficability parameters and overcoating interval for applications on cement floors: at 10°C, walkable in 3 days and full film hardening after 12 days. At 20°C, walkable in 2 days and full film hardening after 8 days. At 30°C, walkable in 2 days and full film hardening after 6 days.
  • To achieve the above performance, the product must be applied in accordance with the application intervals specified depending on the temperature: at 10°C, the interval between the first and second coat must be 24 hours. At 20°C, the interval must be 12 hours. At 30°C, the interval must be 8 hours.
  • The floor must have a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm² and a tensile strength of 1.5 N/mm².

Note:

Cleaning tools: At the end of the application, thoroughly wash spray guns, paint systems and containers with tap water. In case of removal difficulties due to drying of the product, use a limited amount of suitable solvent to remove residual material left on the application equipment.
