INFORMATION

Juta is a water-based decorative paint for interiors, which reproduces the warp and weft texture of the well-known JUTE fabric. It gives a non-homogeneous visual effect and a palette of contemporary shades inspired by the material made with natural fibers.

Preparation

  • The surface to be decorated must be grease-free, clean and free from any impurities such as: dust, wax, grease, silicones, soaps, paints and anything that may cause detachment. Then, fill any defects in the substrate, although the surface does not need to be completely smooth, as the Juta finish can cover small imperfections. Once dry, sand and then apply PRIMER 1500 with the PV26 roller in two covering coats, creating a thin layer. Wait 4 – 6 hours at 20°C between the first and second coats of PRIMER 1500. After another 8 hours, continue with the application of Juta.
  • Color the product with Valpaint pigments and mix well to avoid color differences once applied to the wall.

Note: It must be used within 10 days of coloring to avoid losing its stability and color tone.

Application

  • Continuous Jute fabric effect: Apply in a single pass using the PV 26 wool roller and rolling in all directions but with the last movement of the roller only vertically from top to bottom. For a better result of the product application and to have the most homogeneous decoration possible, between the “old” joint and the “new”, insist with the roller so that the two joints, light and dark, become uniform.
  • Immediately afterwards and while the product is still wet, apply with the special JUTA PV 141 or PV 142 style roller (patented by VALPAINT), making three or more passes horizontally and then another three or more only vertically. These must be as straight as possible to recreate the correct texture with as few joints as possible. As a further optimization, to make the design a little more uniform while the product is still wet, make short and small “rolls” but always in a vertical direction. In any case, once the work is finished, the aesthetic appearance will still be non-homogeneous, typical of jute fabric.

Note: When the surface to be decorated exceeds 3 m2, to reduce as much as possible any joints, work on the Juta finish in teams of two (or more) applicators, based on the width of the wall, on which one (or more) applies the product with the PV26 wool roller and the other (or more) works with the special JUTA style roller PV 141 or PV 142.

 

PROTECTION: Juta is slightly washable but to make the surface even more water-resistant, after 10 hours at 20°C, use the transparent protective FINISH V10 Opaco, applied with a roller, brush or spray gun. FINISH V10 Opaco must be applied in one or two layers based on the washability and the resistance you want to achieve. Wait approximately 4 hours at 20°C between the first and second layers. This protective layer does not change the natural matt appearance of the Juta decorative.

IMPORTANT: To achieve the best application result with Juta, in addition to working quickly and methodically, it is essential to use the special roller JUTA PV 141 or PV 142 as well as the small flat tool JUTA PV 143 or PV 144.
