Vierosil Lotus is a high quality smooth Siloxane paint, compliant with the AFNOR FDT 30-808 standard, as it contains more than 40% by weight of siloxane resins. Thanks to its innovative composition, water is not retained but collected in small drops, which, naturally slide away from the surface and keep it perfectly clean and dry (Lotus effect). It contains special surface preservatives, which give the coating preventive protection against the formation of moss, algae and fungi.

INFORMATION

Vierosil Lotus is a breathable and water-repellent water-based paint based on acrylsiloxane resins, oxides, lamellar elements, special additives, according to the AFNOR FDT 30-808 standard, with very low rainwater penetration, for application in two layers with a consumption of approximately 8-10m2/Lt. It is suitable for use in the renovation of buildings located in historic urban centers and on plaster surfaces, cementitious wall surfaces, different mortars or equivalent, prefabricated cementitious elements, porous natural stones and surfaces already treated with other paints, after preparation, possible restoration with an anti-mold solution and subsequent application of AKROSIL A primer.

Preparation

  • To achieve maximum performance of Vierosil Lotus, it is necessary to completely remove any pre-existing paint coating. Maximum water-repellent performance is achieved after 28 days of drying.
  • Local repair: for best results we recommend using a roller.
  • Ambient and substrate conditions:
    • Ambient application temperature: less than +5°C / more than +35°C
    • Relative humidity: < 80%
    • Substrate temperature: less than +5°C / more than +35°C
    • Do not apply to substrates exposed to direct sunlight or strong wind
  • New, mature, homogeneous, complete city wall surfaces:
    • Clean thoroughly, removing all traces of dust.
    • Make sure the wall is completely dry, apply a coat of AKROSIL A primer and wait 24 hours.
  • Wall surfaces made of lime, cement, plaster, already coated or partially degraded:
    • Synthetic paints and coatings: to make the most of the product’s breathability characteristics, it is recommended to completely remove old paints and synthetic coatings either with a special abrasive or with a pressure washer and water jet.
    • Mineral or absorbent paints and coatings: remove all traces of stains, parts that are not completely adhered and any frayed areas.
  • Fill and smooth with compatible products and leave to dry. Make sure the wall is completely dry and apply a coat of AKROSIL A acrylic siloxane primer.
  • If the substrate is particularly loose, apply a coat of PRYMER SE primer based on resins with organic solvents with a brush.
  • If there are traces of mold or moss, first apply a mold and moss cleaning solution.

 

Application

  • Apply with a roller for exterior surfaces or brush two successive layers spaced at least 12 hours apart.
  • The product completes the drying and polymerization processes within 8 – 10 days in good environmental conditions (+ 5 ° C / + 35 ° C, Humidity max. 85%). If the product, during this period, is washed away by rainwater, unsightly marks and runs with a translucent and sticky appearance may appear. This phenomenon, of a temporary nature, does not affect the quality characteristics of the product and can be easily eliminated by washing with water or by waiting for the next rain.
