INFORMATION

Wall Primer Sealer is a water-based, high opacity, low odour, waterproofing and stabilizing wall primer. It is particularly recommended for use prior to Little Greene water-based finishes for both interior and exterior applications. Suitable for the preparation of new renders, or even repaired surfaces, after appropriate preparation.

Preparation

  • Existing painted surface: Remove all loose and flaking paint. Degrease with a suitable detergent solution and then rinse with clean water. Sand thoroughly with medium grit sandpaper, e.g. 120-150 grit, to create a smooth, defect-free surface, paying more attention to areas where paint has been removed. Make repairs, sand and where necessary apply Little Greene Wall Primer Sealer to the exposed surface.
  • New plastered walls: For newly plastered surfaces, allow at least four weeks for the plaster to dry thoroughly. Apply a coat of Wall Primer Sealer diluted with 5 to 25% (by volume) water, depending on the porosity of the substrate. Apply by brush and roller to the entire surface and allow to dry.
  • This product is not recommended for application over lime-based or other natural plaster substrates.
  • Existing Painted Gypsum Board Walls: Lightly wash any existing paint to remove any dust or surface stains. Apply one coat of Wall Primer Sealer diluted with 5 to 25% (by volume) water, depending on the porosity of the substrate.

Application

  • Stir well before use.
  • Do not apply to surfaces when the ambient temperature is below 8°C or if there is a risk of rain during application or drying.
  • For good flow, apply a generous coat but avoid running the primer on the surface.
  • Brush application: Always use high quality synthetic bristle brushes that are the right size for the job.
  • Apply Wall Primer Sealer in even strokes, extending only the area to be painted so that a wet edge is easily maintained. For a higher quality finish, apply final strokes in the same direction and do not re-apply where the paint has already started to dry.
  • Light sanding between coats will remove any dust spots and other surface contaminants, creating an almost professional finish.
  • Roller Application: Use a short-pile fur paint roller for best results on smooth surfaces. Increase the roller pile size for rougher surfaces. Keep all final strokes of the roller in the same direction, maintaining a wet edge throughout, and do not re-roll where the Wall Primer Sealer has already started to dry, as there is a serious risk of streaking.
