INFORMATION

Chameleon Multipurpose Spray Primer has excellent adhesion to most types of substrates. It acts as a primer and final finishing coat for metal surfaces (iron, zinc, galvanized iron, aluminum, lead, brass, copper…), plastics, rigid PVC, polyester, fiberglass, methacrylate, melamine, expanded polyurethane, ceramics, mosaic, glass, etc. It contains a rust inhibitor (DIN 53.167: no rust formation on metal surfaces after 150 hours under aggressive salt solution) so that it can be used safely on many different metal surfaces. It can be coated with any water-based or solvent-based paint (synthetic enamels, polyurethane, epoxy…), except nitrocellulose paints.

Preparation

  • Apply to clean, dry and sound substrates. Remove loose material and all traces of rust, scale, grease or wax from the substrate.
  • Iron & Steel: To ensure good corrosion protection, substrates should be abraded, cleaned and allowed to dry. All areas of corrosion should be removed and cleaned with BEISSIER MINOXIL (phosphoric acid based) or other suitable cleaner. Apply 2 coats of Beissier Chameleon Spray.
  • Zinc and galvanized iron: Clean thoroughly with BEISSIER MINOXIL and sand gently with fine sandpaper. A preliminary adhesion test is recommended due to the wide variety of galvanized surfaces. Apply 2 coats of Beissier Chameleon Spray.
  • Aluminum, Copper & Brass: Clean with MINOXIL. Not recommended for application to anodized & clean aluminum. Preliminary adhesion test recommended.
  • PVC & Hard Plastics: Clean thoroughly with ammonia. Sand gently with fine sandpaper.
  • Wood & Timber: The substrate must be dry and protected from wood-eating insects. Any wood rot must be removed and treated.
  • When using Chameleon Spray as a primer for further coating materials, these must be applied within 3 days. Longer waiting time would require light sanding to promote adhesion of the finishing coatings.
  • Do not apply at relative humidity greater than 85%.
  • Do not use on surfaces exposed to static or capillary moisture.

Application

  • Shake the can well for 3 minutes. Adjust the adjustable nozzle and apply 2 coats evenly.
  • After use, invert the spray can and press for a few seconds to clean the valve.
  • Recommended final layer thickness: 100 microns.
  • Theoretical yield: approximately 2 m2/ 400 ml and per coat, depending on the type of substrate.
  • Cleaning of tools: With WS or General purpose solvent
