INFORMATION

Iper Vetro is a transparent and thixotropic two-component Epoxy resin. It makes the surface it is applied to shiny and visually uniform, resistant to water and common chemicals. It is a product for internal use and of special composition, where it is applied with a stainless steel spatula on internal walls of bathrooms, kitchens and in other cases of surfaces that require high protection.

Preparation

  • Do not apply Iper Vetro directly on a lime-based product. Permitted systems of use:
  • ISTINTO + GIOIA diluted 30% (at least 2 coats)
  • ISTINTO + VETRO diluted (20% VETRO + 80% water in 2 coats)

The substrate must be completely dry and clean (at least 48 hours after applying ISTINTO and 24 hours after applying GIOIA or VETRO).

On old surfaces that have already been treated with ISTINTO and are protected with GIOIA or VETRO, clean and degrease the surface thoroughly, then proceed with the application of Iper Vetro.

Preparation of the mixture

  • Mixing BASE A with HARDENER B.
  • Add HARDENER B to BASE A, mix by hand very well and slowly, taking care not to entrap air in the material. Push the material that has stuck to the walls of the container towards the center to ensure very good mixing. The mixing time should not exceed 3 minutes. If the product is constantly stirred during the reaction of its two components, it heats up noticeably and its workability is compromised.
  • The application is done immediately after and within 25’ – 30’ minutes at 20°C. In the case of particularly hot days, prepare less product and proceed with the application. After 30 minutes the product begins to thicken and bubble. This is an indication that you need to renew the product.

Application

  • Apply the product with the stainless steel KIT/NUDO spatula with quick upward movements and towards the “waters” present on the surface, so that the GEL remains mainly inside the recesses, while the smooth part of the design is covered by a very thin layer. It is recommended to always work with a little product on the spatula, so that you can spread it better. Avoid leaving too much product in the “waters”. If the product forms “runs”, remove the excess product immediately. Note: If left in thick layers, the product tends to whiten.
  • In corners or other areas difficult to reach for the spatula, apply the product with your finger protected by a plastic glove. Within 18-24 hours the product remains soft and you can make precision retouches, avoiding over-covering.
  • Between the first and second layers, wait 24 hours at 20°C or when the first layer is resistant to the touch, i.e. touching the surface with a finger and pressing it does not leave a mark.
  • After 36 hours, the product becomes vitrified, therefore before proceeding with the second layer (in the case of late application), we advise you to lightly sand with fine sandpaper to remove dust. Keep the area free from dust for at least 12 hours.
  • At the end of the work, seal the edges that are in contact with other surfaces (shower floor, taps, kitchen countertops) with a suitable silicone, to prevent the ingress of water and humidity between Iper Vetro and the wall, which can cause the formation of haze or cracks.
