You should not use impregnation varnish on garden furniture. Its lifespan will be very short, because water pools on horizontal surfaces and even if you clean it, the oil will remain in the wood. Apply Τeak oil Syntilor which nourishes the wood, repeating the process every time the wood “whitens” and seems to dry out.
The application of impregnation varnish is not recommended in this case, because oil is oily and therefore will have penetrated deep into the wood fibers. Consequently, the impregnation varnish will not be able to adhere.
You cannot. You must choose a colored impregnation varnish or mix shades of impregnation varnish with each other. You can mix any shade of the same impregnation varnish from the Syntilor ranges.
For the impregnation varnish to peel off, there must be an adhesion problem on the surface for various reasons (e.g. the wood has more moisture than tolerated, has grease or oil, etc.). Applying a topcoat varnish will not solve the problem.
The maintenance of the impregnation varnish is done by lightly sanding with sandpaper (grain 120) and by applying one or two additional layers. Proper maintenance of the topcoat varnish requires complete removal of the varnish until we reach bare wood.
Yes, but after at least 6 months from the factory impregnation (it is always a good idea to ask where you get your wood). Factory impregnation is done in large kilns, which closes the pores of the wood and therefore makes it difficult for the impregnation varnish to penetrate. The final color will be the result of the color of the factory impregnated wood and the color of the varnish.
Syntilor water-based impregnation varnishes can be applied over any solvent-based impregnation varnish (and vice versa) after careful sanding of the surface to be applied.
Yes, but first sand them well with sandpaper (grit 100-120), to ensure that the new paint will stick well and not peel off.
A. The wood is exotic and contains some antioxidant, so the varnish will dry after several days. All you have to do is wait.
or
B. A wood lightener was used before application, so the varnish will take several days to dry. Rinse the wood thoroughly with an alcohol solution before applying the impregnation varnish, as the lightener residue greatly delays the drying of the varnish.
The main reason why water-based varnish sometimes does not provide long-term durability to exotic wood structures is mainly due to constructional reasons. If the wood joints are not waterproof, rainwater penetrates the wood. This moisture passes through the substrate and “wears away” the varnish. Furthermore, due to the high tannins that exotic woods have, very deep impregnation is not achieved.
The best solution would be to apply a new technology water-based oil-varnish for exotic woods for horizontal and vertical application. The product is called SATURATEUR TERRASSES & BARDAGES BIOSOURCÉ – Syntilor.
