Tannins are organic substances found in most woods. Their colors, often pale, can develop to dark brown. Some woods, such as: oak, chestnut, Douglas fir, red cedar, niangon, meranti, limba (or frack, widely used in plywood), etc. have a high content of highly reactive tannins. XYLOPRIM® BOIS TANNIQUES BLANCHON primer isolates tannins from the final finish to be applied as follows: impregnation varnish (in most cases), but also crust varnish, wood color, etc. The original shade of the wood is thus preserved.

The XYLOPRIM® primer-base blocks the absorption of tannins, creating a “barrier” so that unwanted stains do not appear, without changing the absorption behavior of the Wood. It remains microporous and the wood retains its original color.
The XYLOPRIM® primer-base insulates and isolates the finish that will be applied later: in most cases impregnation varnish, but also varnish, paint, etc. The original shade of the wood will be preserved. Tannins are organic substances present in most woods. Their colors are often yellow and can change to dark brown. Some woods, such as Oak, Chestnut, Douglas Fir, Red Cedar, Niangon, Meranti, Limba (or fraké, widely used in plywood) etc. have a high content of highly active tannins. The consequences for colorless and/or transparent finishes can be visually unpleasant: the tannins “vomit” and are the cause of stains, streaks, creating more or less intense marks.
Colorless and non-greasy, XYLOPRIM® provides comfort and safety to the user during application. After drying, it can be coated with all finishes: impregnation varnishes, varnishes or paints.
Note: XYLOPRIM® is not a hard finish and is not intended for use on wooden floors subject to heavy traffic.
