INFORMATION

Vixalit HP is a lime-based paint suitable for interior and exterior surfaces such as concrete, lime-based plasters, gypsum plasters or other mortars. In particular, it is indicated for achieving a decorative effect with an aged finish and appearance. The use of Vixalit HP is extremely widespread and is used in historic cities for the renovation of cultural and old buildings with respect for traditions. It works best when absorbed into the wall leaving a breathable surface that is protected by the natural properties of the paint.

Preparation

New mineral surfaces:

  • On perfectly dry and clean substrates, dampen the surface with water.

Old and degraded mineral surfaces:

  • Clean the surface thoroughly, removing all traces of previous paint and/or worn plasters, stains, etc., by brushing, sanding or using a steam cleaner as required.
  • Re-plaster the problematic surface with lime-based products (appropriate granulometry).
  • Before applying Vixalit HP, dampen the surface with water.
  • If your wall is already painted or made of plaster, it is very important that your walls are properly primed, as Vixalit HP will not hide what is on your wall. Newly plastered walls can be very absorbent, which can make it a little difficult to achieve a consistent appearance. To achieve a uniform finish on rough plaster, we recommend priming the surface. This ensures a consistent appearance, prevents the appearance of microcracks and helps minimize absorbency.

Application

  • Classic Application:
    • Apply two coats of VIXALIT HP diluted 30 – 40% with water, preferably with a soft-bristled brush, with at least 12 hours of waiting between coats.
  • Technique for reproducing the aged effect:
    • Mineral surfaces must be perfectly clean and free of any traces of old paint. All repair work must be carried out only with lime or lime-cement based plasters and repair materials.
    • Using loose, free strokes, stretch the paint as much as possible, constantly changing the direction of the strokes. Let the bristles do the work. There is no need to exert excessive pressure.
    • Apply the paint evenly in a thin layer, preventing runs, while covering every part of the surface in the first layer. Maintain a wet edge at all times to avoid joints in your finished surface.
    • Apply each coat in one continuous application. Do not attempt to repair the walls once the first coat is finished, as areas that were not covered can be covered in the next coat.
    • When VIXALIT HP is wet, it will appear darker and more transparent. As VIXALIT HP dries, the color will reach the selected color and become more opaque.
    • Allow at least 1-2 hours between coats.
    • Apply a second coat in the same manner. Allow the paint to dry.
