INFORMATION

VELATURA Acrilica is a multi-coloured decorative paint system for walls and ceilings, consisting of a special acrylic base applied over a good quality acrylic paint in a pre-defined colour – as a background – and one or more top coats of VELATURA Acrilica in a different colour. Each additional top coat allows the background and the previous top coat to be partially visible. The product owes its rare decorative effect to this play of contrasts, between the colours and the patterns achieved with each top coat. The final result varies depending on the technique you follow.

Preparation

  • The substrate must be dry, free from dust, grease and any other contaminating substance.
  • Ambient temperature: min. +10°C / max. +35°C
  • Relative ambient humidity: <75%
  • Application surface temperature: min. +10°C / max. +35°C
  • New wall: Make sure the wall is dry and has been properly prepared. Remove with a spatula or sand any loose parts, and prime. Apply a coat of acrylic paint. Then apply Velatura Acrilica with the desired tool.
  • Varnished walls: Remove with a spatula or sand any loose parts, and fill in any imperfections with a paste or powder product, seal the entire surface with a water-based primer. Apply a coat of base coat and then Velatura Acrilica.
  • New or varnished wood: Sand the surface with fine sandpaper No. 150, clean thoroughly. Apply one or two coats of base coat and finish with Velatura Acrilica.
  • To apply Velatura Acrilica, apply the product to the wall with a brush, then continue with the treatment with a spatula or other tool, depending on the desired effect.

 

Application
The principle of the system lies in the fact of applying one layer of Acrylic paint of the selected shade and one or two layers of VELATURA Acrilica on the selected shade of the base.
In case of large surfaces or hot environments, it is preferable to work together with an assistant, so that one spreads the product and the other creates the effect with the appropriate tool.
Spatula effect: Apply VELATURA Acrilica to 6-8m2 of surface, preferably with a wide brush. Make sure that enough material remains on the surface. Then, with a plastic spatula, “smear” the surface by creating irregular spatula strokes. Immediately every 1-2 m2, press the surface lightly so that the spatula strokes disappear and an “uneven” effect is created. Let the base dry. This movement will result in a highly transparent shade and create an impressive color contrast.
Patina effect: Paint the surface with a good quality Acrylic paint. Let the paint dry. Then, with a wide brush, apply VELATURA Acrilica every 2-3m2 and at the same time, with a slightly damp painting glove, “gather” the material with gentle circular pulling movements. This movement will result in the glove gathering part of the material in points and leaving the surface looking like the old patinas, revealing an impressive color contrast.
