5,0L – 14,0L

Silica Paint HP is a mineral paint for exteriors with high resistance to atmospheric agents. It is ideal for old mineral plasters to be restored and for new mineral plasters based on lime and cement or whenever one wants to achieve maximum water vapor permeability. It is also suitable for the restoration of historical monuments and old mineral coatings. Silica Paint HP complies with DIN 18363 point 2.4.1.

BENEFITS
  • Excellent breathability as the microcrystalline structure resulting from the crystallization of silicon is porous and allows the passage of water vapor
  • Excellent water repellency
  • Resistance to alkalis
  • Easy application with a brush or roller
  • Excellent adhesion to all types of mineral substrates such as plasters containing lime, mortar, cement, excluding gypsum in all its forms
  • Aesthetics and color effects very similar to those of old paints with light shading and cloudy finishes
INFORMATION

Silica Paint HP is a mineral paint for exteriors with high resistance characteristics to atmospheric agents. In addition to water vapor permeability and resistance to mold and moss, potassium silicate – HYDRYALOS, gives the surface aesthetic and color effects, similar to the soft and natural appearance of old mineral coatings. New plasters must be cured for at least 4-6 weeks to complete natural carbonation. Any repaired surface should also be repaired and cured perfectly.

Preparation

  • New Mineral surfaces: the substrate must be mature, homogeneous, clean and free from old paints or coatings, grease or other foreign substances. Application to fresh substrates may cause bleaching or peeling of the product.
  • Old and deteriorated mineral surfaces: clean the surface thoroughly by grinding, sandblasting or high-pressure steam cleaning equipment, removing any traces of old paints and/or plasters, dirt, grease, etc. Treat the surface with an anti-mold solution if moss or mold is present.
  • New cementitious plasters: the substrates must be fully matured, smooth, clean and free from traces of reinforcement or other foreign substances. Application to fresh substrates may cause bleaching or peeling of the product.
  • Old and very deteriorated mineral surfaces: apply a coat of SILICA FOND SD primer and wait 24 hours.
  • Protect the applied product from rain, frost, fog, dew and dust until it is completely dry for at least 48 hours.
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight, with strong winds and hot temperatures, with fog or high humidity in the air, if it is raining or if frost is expected during the night.
  • To avoid the formation of joint lines, it is advisable to apply the product in one complete coat at a time.
  • Complete each individual face without the product drying. For large surfaces, it would be advisable to draw the joint marks in advance (i.e. at floor levels, under drippers or where technical joints already exist).
  • For complete and perfect homogenization of the pigments, it is recommended to mix the product with a mixer for at least 5 minutes.
  • Clean the work tools with water immediately after use.

Application

  • Stir the product gently until a homogeneous mass is obtained and dilute with deionized water up to 20% by volume.
  • Apply one coat of diluted Silica Paint HP. Wait 24 hours and then apply the second coat of Silica Paint HP.
  • The product completes the drying and polymerization process within 8-10 days in ideal ambient conditions (+5°C/ +35°C, maximum 85% R.H.).

IMPORTANT: Silica Paint HP cannot be applied to wood, plaster or a substrate already coated with synthetic paint without prior relevant preparation.
