INFORMATION

Polistof is a satin multicolor water-based paint for interior use, which can be used to create a velvet or denim fabric effect. Manufactured with cutting-edge technology, it is a safe, durable and washable contemporary decorative paint. Furthermore, it was designed to offer new interior decoration solutions, bringing discreet and elegant touches to any living environment.

Preparation

  • Old Surfaces: Remove all old, loose and peeling paint and clean. Then, if necessary, sand the surface using sandpaper and then apply a suitable stabilizing primer. Then, apply Primer 400 only to the problem areas. After approximately 4 hours at 20°C, apply a coat of Primer 400 colored and diluted 10 – 20% with water. If, however, the surfaces are clean and not peeling, apply a coat of Primer 400 diluted 10-20% with water. After 4 hours at 20°C, proceed with the application of Polistof.
  • New Surfaces: Use a filler to repair the surface. When dry, sand and apply Primer 400 only to the repaired areas. After approximately 4 hours at 20°C, apply a coat of Primer 400 tinted and diluted 10 – 20% with water. After another 4 hours at 20°C, continue with the application of Polistof.

Note: for all Effects except Jeans Fabric Effect, Primer 400 must be tinted in a shade similar to that of Polistof.

 

Application

  • Velvet Fabric effect: apply Polistof using the PV 95 roller or the Plafone brush COD. 43, or a spray gun. When applying with the special brush or roller, try to distribute the product evenly on the surface to prevent the formation of joints. Make frequent cross movements with the roller or brush. Complete the first coat – without stopping – with a final vertical movement. After approximately 6 – 8 hours, apply the second coat of Polistof, following the same procedure as described above. To apply Polistof using a spray gun, dilute the product with 10% water. Apply the first coat of Polistof, working in a horizontal direction. After approximately 6 – 8 hours, apply a second coat, working in a vertical direction to achieve uniform coverage of the surface.
  • Velvet Fabric effect with L50: add L50, Col. 301, to any Polistof shade and mix well. Apply only with a roller or spray gun, using the same application techniques as for the Velvet Fabric effect.
  • Denim Fabric effect, for small areas only: add Finish V 16 varnish and water to any Polistof shade and mix well. Then apply a coat of Denim mixture using the Plafone COD. 43 brush, distributing the product as evenly as possible and go over it immediately afterwards, pressing hard with the (clean) brush and working from top to bottom or vice versa, to create the Vertical Denim effect in one coat. After 3 – 4 hours, using the same tool, Plafone COD. 43 , apply a second coat of Denim mix evenly and brush again with the clean brush, pressing hard but this time moving from right to left or vice versa, to create the Criss-Cross Denim effect (in two coats).

Note: This effect should be created using the wet Denim mix and therefore the application cycle should be completed without interruption so that the product does not dry out. Use a large enough container to pour and mix all the products of the Denim mix well.

 

Protection

We recommend applying one or more coats of Finish V 16 protective water-based acrylic varnish by roller or brush to all surfaces subject to frequent contact or wear. Finish V 16 protects surfaces and makes them highly washable, not only with water but also with common detergents.
