INFORMATION

Meteore 14 Medio is part of VALPAINT’s one-component resin cementitious mortar systems, i-Beton & i-Beton PLUS. It is a medium-grained structural coating with high anchoring properties, for application on raw cement or tile substrates or over Meteore 14 Grosso.

Preparation
  • The surfaces to which Meteore 14 Medio is applied must be dry and solid, free of cracks and moisture. The application conditions refer to stable standard environmental conditions (Θ = 20°C and relative humidity UR = 65%). Conditions other than those indicated can significantly modify the drying times. For more information, see the relevant Technical Brochure.
  • Surface without moisture: sand and level the ceramic or similar tiles (not suitable for porcelain tiles) as well as any reliefs on concrete substrates. Wash thoroughly with suitable detergents, eliminating dust, grease, soaps, any unstable old paints and anything that may cause detachment. When the substrate is dry and solid, fill the tile joints as well as any cracks and holes in the concrete with the special two-component putty Stucco SB30. This is done to make the surface to be treated perfect and to avoid scuffing. After 24 hours at 20°C, apply a layer of Top Coat AR60 Lucido resin with a brush or roller (Microfiber). Top Coat AR60 Lucido resin must be catalyzed with the CT80 catalyst and in this case diluted 1:2 to 1:3 with water, always mixing very well. After 6 – 8 hours at 20°C, continue with the application of Meteore 14 Medio.

Note: If the rising humidity is greater than 3% when measured with appropriate tools (BM40 Hygrometer), we do not recommend the application of the I-BETON system.

Application

  • FILLING LAYER: Using the PV 43/44 stainless steel trowel, apply a layer of Meteore 14 Medio filling, creating a sufficient layer of product to cover the mesh and leave the support surface flat. Then, spray the entire treated area with water using a sprayer and complete the application immediately by pressing with trowel movements in all directions, in order to achieve a surface as smooth and compact as possible. In this way, the formation of lumps, irregular marks and unevenness from the trowel is avoided and the surface does not need to be sanded.

Note: For floors and walls made of raw cement or in the presence of an uneven ceramic surface, we recommend using Meteore 14 Grosso instead of Meteore 14 Medio for the coating, to facilitate the achievement of a flat result.

  • FINISHING: after 16 hours at 20°C, apply a second coat of Meteore 14 Medio, again using the PV 43/44 stainless steel trowel and spray the entire decorative surface with water using the water sprayer. Complete the application by pressing immediately with movements of the trowel in all directions, achieving a finish that is as smooth and compact as possible. Wait another 16 hours at 20°C before applying a third coat of Meteore 14 Medio, using the same technique as for the second.

Note: Between coats of Meteore 14 Medio, check that the surface is perfectly smooth without lumps, lines or irregularities. If necessary, sand with a suitable tool, choosing sandpaper of appropriate grain size for the surface conditions.

Protection

  • For floors that will be exposed to high humidity: after 16 hours at 20°C, apply a thin layer of the 2-component resin OTTURAPORI OTB + CT45 using a mohair roller. After 24 hours at 20°C, sand with 220/300 grit sandpaper before applying two coats of the protective resins TOP COAT AR60 Lucido (glossy) or TOP COAT AR70 Opaco (matt).
  • For other surfaces: After 16-24 hours at 20°C, apply two to three coats of the protective resins TOP COAT AR60 Lucido (glossy) or TOP COAT AR70 Opaco (matt).
