INFORMATION

Interior Oil Eggshell is a tough yet flexible, durable and waterproof solvent-based enamel designed for interior use on properly prepared surfaces. Its improved application properties and extended workability help produce a very high quality, low gloss finish.

Preparation

  • General: Remove any surface imperfections and repair any defects to ensure a top quality finish.
  • New Wood: For best results on new, uncoated wood containing resinous knots, apply a coat of Aluminium Wood Primer to prevent staining and/or discolouration. Follow with a coat of Little Greene Intelligent ASP Multi-Surface Primer. Resinous hardwoods require initial cleaning and treatment with Little Greene Aluminium Wood Primer (please consult the relevant product data sheets for further details).
    • Ensure the moisture content of the timber is below 15% before commencing application. Damp wood should never be painted as this can cause blistering, peeling, cracking and premature coating failure.
    • Green Oak should not be painted unless it has been externally cured for at least 6 months.
  • Metals: New ferrous/non-ferrous metals should be cleaned by hand or power tool to remove any surface rust prior to application. Bare or corroded iron or steel will require treatment with 2 coats of Little Greene Intelligent ASP Primer.
  • Plastics: For long-term performance and durability, clean and abrade all surfaces thoroughly. For best results, apply one coat of Little Greene Intelligent ASP Multi-Surface Primer.
  • Existing Paint Finish: Remove all loose and flaking paint. Degrease with a suitable detergent solution, then rinse with clean water. Sand thoroughly with medium grit sandpaper, e.g. 120-150 grit to create a smooth, defect-free surface, paying more attention to areas where paint has been removed. Make repairs, sand and apply a coat of Little Greene Intelligent ASP Multi-Surface Primer to increase adhesion to the existing substrate. Follow with 2 coats of Little Greene Interior Oil Eggshell.

Application

  • Stir well before use. Do not apply to surfaces when the ambient temperature is below 8°C.
  • Brushing: Always use high quality synthetic bristle brushes that are the right size for the job. Apply Interior Oil Eggshell Ripolin in even strokes and only extend the paint area so that a wet edge is easily maintained. For a higher quality final finish, apply final strokes in the same direction and do not re-apply where the Ripolin has already started to dry.
  • For intricate objects or when high ambient temperatures/or high air flow conditions cannot be avoided, the working time can be extended by adding 5% (by volume) White Spirit.
  • Roller Painting: Use a Ripolin roller (mohair or foam) for best appearance and coverage on smooth surfaces. Keep all final movements of the roller always in the same direction, maintaining a wet edge throughout the work.
