INFORMATION

INTENSIV® Blanchon is a two-component floor & parquet varnish of bio based origin, based on water-based polyurethane resins. It contains 78% natural, mineral and biological ingredients (not from organic farming), including 20% carbon of biological origin measured according to the NF EN 16640 standard. It is odorless and its Aqua Pro hardener is a real, water-soluble polyurethane hardener. It is based on Carbon composite resins, selected for their unparalleled resistance to wear, abrasion and scratches, and which do not react to potentially corrosive substances: detergents, disinfectants, alcohol, wine, tea, ink, sauces, etc. With its excellent performance and fast curing, its ingredients make INTENSIV® suitable for all spaces and especially in places subject to heavy traffic: shops, offices, hotels, conference rooms, schools, corridors, entrances. It is applied to all types of wood commonly used (rare species and walnut, contact us). Its light shade preserves and highlights the veins and natural tone of the wood

Preparation

  • Preparation of a new or old parquet by sanding: the wood to be coated should be sanded down to “bare wood” with sandpaper (No. 24 or 36) and roughened with sandpaper No. 50 or 60. The final sanding before finishing should be done with sandpaper No. 100 or 120. Then dust thoroughly.
  • The parquet floor must be perfectly clean and dry: generally, humidity less than 10%. consult the T.F in force (the use of detergents or bleaches is prohibited).
  • On glued parquet floors, the use of BLANCHON WOOD PUTTY BINDER for “always colored” filling-filling is recommended (consult the Technical Data Sheet of the product).
  • Insecticidal treatment – If necessary, apply a suitable treatment product.
  • Use of Primers – Possible use, one coat, of BLANCHON primers: PRIM’SEALER, PRIM’GOLD® or FOND DUR S.O. (Read the product technical leaflets beforehand). The use of PRIM’SEALER or PRIM’GOLD® allows very good workability and easy application of the odorless floor varnish. The color obtained with PRIM’SEALER in the first coat is identical to that of INTENSIV® applied directly on the wood, while the use of PRIM’GOLD® provides the wood (especially on tannic woods: oak, chestnut) with a warm shade, very close to that obtained with a first coat of FOND DUR S.O. primer. The application of FOND DUR S.O allows for quick work and gives the wood a slight enhancement of the initial shade. It is also essential for “blocking” VIEILLISSEUR BOIS (positive shades before applying INTENSIV®).

Application

  • Mixing Shake component A well.
  • Mix INTENSIV® (Component A) and AQUA PRO HARDENER (Component B) just before starting the application. Dosage: Component B: 1 part for 9 parts of Component A (by volume).
  • Mix immediately very carefully for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture is homogenous. The mixture must be used within 90 minutes.
  • No dilution is required.

Note: INTENSIV® is delivered in a special packaging (separable cardboard box), so that it is immediately usable for mixing and application: Place the plastic bag in one of the halves of the pre-separated cardboard, so as to form a bowl in which the mixture will be made.

Application on wood

  • Do not apply the product to a parquet floor when the temperature is below 12°C and the relative humidity is above 85%. Do not apply to wood with a humidity of more than 10%. Use only in well-ventilated areas.
  • The application is made in 3 layers with a roller (short bristles) in normal, full layers or with a spatula (multi-layer application). It is also possible to apply 2 layers with the previous use of one of the recommended primers.
  • In case of application with a spatula (multi-layer), it is recommended to sand and dust again, before applying the last layer of INTENSIV® with a roller. On beech, maple or cherry, do not apply INTENSIV® with a spatula.
  • After the first layer has dried, it is recommended to do a light sanding (fine white abrasive mesh) and dust again. Re-sanding the surface is necessary if more than 24 hours pass between 2 coats.

Substrate preparation and application on concrete

  • Very simple to use, INTENSIV® provides lasting protection against stains, dust and moisture. The treated surfaces are gently highlighted (waxed appearance) and benefit from easy maintenance, even in case of heavy use.
  • Applied to concrete floors, work surfaces, etc. (not suitable for water retention areas: sinks, showers, basins, bathtubs, etc.) clean and bare (without other finishes: wax, oil, varnish, etc.). Check the porosity of the application surface which is necessary for good adhesion: pour the contents of a spoonful of water, placed on clean concrete, it should penetrate within 1 minute. Repeat the test in different locations.
  • Dust thoroughly (vacuum cleaner) and wipe with a damp mop. Leave to dry.
  • In the case of a new concrete substrate, moisture must be completely eliminated.
  • Do not apply if the surface temperature is below 12°C or if the humidity level is higher than 5% (use of a hygrometer is recommended).
  • The relative humidity of the room must not exceed 85%. Use only in well-ventilated areas.
  • Apply 2 coats in the direction of the light, with a short-pile roller (brush or wide brush for edges and cuts). The application layer each time should be thin, approximately 1 litre per coat for 12 to 15 m². Ensure uniform application, so as not to leave gaps or excessive thickness.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • INTENSIV® makes it easy to maintain all parquet floors, wooden floors and stairs.
  • Regularly vacuum or sweep. Occasionally, wet mop, with a material that never drips. Stains and marks will be easily removed with LAGOON® BLANCHON, BLANCHON LISABRIL® CLEANER or a neutral detergent (in normal dilution).
  • IMPORTANT: wait 10 days for the first cleaning, so that INTENSIV® can dry completely.
  • PROHIBITED: the use of a single brush, mop, silicone polishes, ammonia products or very strong detergents, etc., i.e. all materials and products likely to give slipperiness and shine.
  • Parquet floors treated with INTENSIV® and subject to heavy traffic are maintained with METALLISING RENOVATOR and LISABRIL® CLEANER. The frequency of this maintenance depends on the traffic in these areas.
