INFORMATION

Absolut Matt Emulsion microporous paint offers a deep matte, slightly washable finish, ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and other low traffic areas. It is very child-friendly, has an A+ rating and has a satisfactory wash response.

Preparation

  • General: Remove any surface imperfections and repair any defects to ensure a top quality finish.
  • Existing painted surface: Remove all loose and flaking paint. Degrease with a suitable detergent solution then rinse with clean water. Sand thoroughly with medium grit sandpaper, e.g. 120-150, to create a smooth, defect-free surface, focusing more on areas where paint has been removed. Make repairs, sand and where necessary apply Little Greene Intelligent ASP Primer to the exposed surface.
  • New plastered walls: For newly plastered surfaces, allow at least four weeks for the plaster to dry thoroughly. Apply one coat of Absolut Matt Emulsion as a primer diluted 5 to 25% (by volume) with water, depending on the porosity of the substrate. Apply by brush and roller to the entire surface and allow to dry. Finish by applying two full coats of Absolut Matt Emulsion.
  • Existing painted plasterboard walls: Lightly wash any existing paint to remove any dust or surface stains. Apply one coat of Intelligent Absolut Matt Primer, thinned with 5 to 25% (by volume) water, depending on the porosity of the substrate. Finish by applying a minimum of two full coats of Absolut Matt Emulsion.

Note: For a significant change in colour scheme, it is strongly recommended to apply a first coat of Little Greene Intelligent ASP Multi-Surface Primer. This product is suitable for painting over lime-based substrates or other natural plasters, provided that the walls do not suffer from moisture problems and compatibility with the existing coating has been ensured.

Application

  • Stir well before use.
  • Do not apply to surfaces when the ambient temperature is below 8°C.
  • Brushing: Always use high-quality synthetic bristle brushes that are the right size for the job. Apply Absolut Matt Emulsion paint in even strokes and only extend the paint area so that a wet edge is easily maintained. For a higher quality final finish, apply final strokes in the same direction and do not re-apply where the paint has already started to dry. For intricate objects or when high ambient temperatures/or high airflow conditions cannot be avoided, the workability time can be extended by adding 10 to 15% (by volume) water.
  • Roller: Use a short-pile fur paint roller for best results on smooth surfaces. Increase the size of the roller pile when there are rougher surfaces. Keep all final roller strokes always in the same direction, maintaining a wet edge throughout and do not re-roll over areas where Absolut Matt Emulsion has already started to dry as there is a serious risk of streaking. When high ambient temperatures/or high air flow conditions cannot be avoided, the workability time can be extended by adding 10 to 15% (by volume) water.
