Chalk paint – Blatem is a water-based paint with a very pleasant smell, which is easy to apply and rub, allowing the reproduction of the very decorative chalk effect (Chalk paint effect). Its special composition allows for very easy direct use and very easy rubbing on furniture and interior objects. Matte finish. It is applied on many different substrates such as: natural or painted wood without the use of a substrate or primer, cement, brick, stone, plaster and masonry, prepared accordingly.

Preparation

  • The application surface must be clean, dry and properly prepared before applying Blatem Chalk Paint.
  • If the surface is painted with tempera or lime-based paint, it should be removed or primed with a multi-purpose primer.
  • If it is painted with a permanent paint or varnish (plastic, ripolin, primer, furniture varnish, etc.), lightly sand and apply directly.

 

Application

  • Stir the contents of the container well before use.
  • Do not apply at temperatures below 8ºC and relative humidity above 80%.
  • Chalk Paint is applied with a brush, roller or spray gun. It can be applied ready-to-use or slightly diluted with water: brush, roller (0-10%) and spray gun (10-20%).
  • Blatem Chalk Paint is easy to rub, first apply a base shade and then with a 2nd shade create a color contrast. Depending on the application surface and the intensity of the rubbing, different effects are reproduced. It is important that the paint is completely dry before rubbing.
  • For a waxed craft finish, apply the colorless Cera Incolora wax for Blatem Chalk Paint, with a brush, or cotton cloth or sponge.
  • For a waxed aged craft finish, apply the dark Cera Oscura wax for Blatem Chalk Paint. Complete the application by wiping with a cloth until you achieve the desired shine. If the painted surface is subject to intense use and for greater protection, apply a layer of the special colorless matte varnish Barniz mate Chalk Paint.

Note: If any of the above Blatem waxes have been applied, the colorless matte varnish Barniz mate Chalk Paint or any other water-based varnish cannot be applied.
