Preparation and Application

  • The application surface (swimming pool) must be completely clean and dry, and the cement must be well dried.
  • Do not apply when there are high temperature conditions or temperatures below 5°C.
  • Mix the product well in the package.
  • New swimming pools: After the construction of the swimming pool, at least two months must pass before painting, so that the concrete can fully harden and acquire full mechanical capabilities.
  • The surfaces must be treated with a mixture of 1 part hydrochloric acid and 3 – 4 parts water. Rinse (high pressure water) and leave for at least 48 hours to dry.
  • Apply a first coat of Blatem Pool Paint diluted with 15-25% water and a second coat diluted with approximately 5-15%.
  • Use a brush, roller or spray gun.
    • Brush and roller: dilution 5-15%.
    • Spray gun: 15-30%.
  •  If the surface has adhesion problems, first apply an Acrylic preparation primer or on very worn or porous surfaces a solvent-based primer.
  • Old pools in good condition: Rub to remove old paint. Wash with a mixture of 1 kg of trisodium phosphate with 10 liters of water or with a solution in water containing 5% powdered detergent. Remove moss and green growth with a stiff bristle brush. Rinse thoroughly with a pressure washer.
  • Old pools in poor condition: Remove paints in poor condition. If the damaged surface is large, remove all old coatings by sandblasting. Wash the surface with trisodium phosphate or a solution in water containing 5% powdered detergent. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and proceed as for new pools. When old coatings cannot be completely removed by sandblasting and/or grinding, apply a coat of an anti-corrosive epoxy primer to seal the surface and homogenize absorption. After 24 hours, apply at least 2 coats of Blatem water-based pool paint.

Note: The growth of green and moss depends on the correct water purification system.
