Your exterior wood cladding (shutters, doors, gates, windows, beams, etc.) are subjected to severe tests, they must be constantly protected from climatic conditions (UV, bad weather) and extreme exposure. The shades and facets of exterior varnishes strengthen the wood, guarantee excellent protection and preserve the natural beauty of the wood.
In addition to its main function: protection from climatic conditions, varnish also has an aesthetic and decorative function. Matt, satin or glossy… colorless, light or dark shades… so many possibilities for decorating and enhancing the shine of your exterior wood cladding.
Syntilor wood varnishes protect and beautify all exterior carpentry and joinery, providing a perfect finish on soft, hard and exotic woods. They form a protective, durable and waterproof film on the surface of the wood and provide it with long-lasting protection.
If you want to protect and decorate your exterior wood, choose one of the Wood Varnishes, Vernis Bois BSC. Based on polyurethane resin, the Vernis Bois BSC protects all types of wood from climatic attacks (UV, bad weather conditions) and vibrations. It protects, but also has aesthetic properties. Matt, glossy or satin… light oak, golden or dark oak… its facets and shades offer you a wide choice for your outdoor decoration.
If you want to protect and decorate your exterior wood exposed to the marine atmosphere and extreme climates, the Vernis Marin UV, is also available in an organic version, it will offer you maximum protection from thermal shock, UV rays, snow and sea salts.
Did you know? All Syntilor exterior varnishes are compatible and can be applied over old solvent or water-based varnish. Carry out your work with peace of mind!
For perfect adhesion, the varnish must be applied to a clean, dry and sound surface.
Oily and exotic woods should first be degreased with acetone.
Blackened or grayed wooden panels should be cleaned with a wood cleaner – Degriseur Nettoyant – and then sanded with sandpaper, grid.80.
Already varnished wooden panels should also be sanded with 100 grit sandpaper. Wooden panels covered with paint or impregnation varnish should first be cleaned with a corrosive. When the layer of paint or impregnation varnish softens after using the corrosive (leave it to act for 10’ to 45’ minutes depending on the substrate), remove it with a spatula or scraper. For grooves, use a stiff bristle brush. Then remove the residues with a damp sponge. Once dry, sand with fine sandpaper.
If the wood does not look healthy (traces of holes from larvae or wood-eating insects), pre-treat with a suitable wood treatment product such as Timpest Aqua Antitarlo or a non-greasy treatment product that will deeply hydrate and protect the wood. Let it dry for 48 hours before applying the varnish.
Mix well before use to obtain a homogeneous mixture and to avoid pigments remaining at the bottom of the container.
For a perfect finish, apply two to three rich coats always in the direction of the wood fibers. Follow the instructions given on the container of your package.
Sand with sandpaper 120 to 180 grit between coats after drying to eliminate the small roughness in the wood and obtain a wonderful appearance.
Even if the varnish is dry on the surface, it takes several days to dry thoroughly. Take some precautions in the first few days to avoid bumps and stains on the varnished surface.
Slightly round off (80 grit sandpaper) the sharp corners and edges of the exterior wooden cladding to obtain perfect coating of the wood fibers with the varnish and thus extend its durability.
